Listen. I love cocktails as much as the next girl. Which is why I am imparting my wisdom of Charleston cocktail knowledge unto you all, because I care.
Surrounded by water on all 3 sides, the Charleston peninsula is home to staggeringly good views and sunsets galore.
Here are my favorite rooftops to enjoy a cocktail (or three). If you can’t decide on a single destination, Charleston offers guided tours galore to see the entire city and imbibe.
On the corner of historic streets and popular tourist destinations, Market St. and East Bay St, lies the Market Pavilion Hotel. Ride the elevator to the top floor to experience one of the most elegant rooftops in all of Charleston.
Sip a martini by the pool on this rooftop oasis and then stay for the sunset views and balcony that flickers with twinkle lights once the sun goes down. It’s a truly Charleston experience that cannot be missed.
Don’t be surprised by your bill though, expect to pay $6 for a beer and $12-$14 for a cocktail.
Want to enjoy drinks with friends without the hefty pricetag? I thought so. The Vendue is an art hotel with tons of abstract and interactive art to view and take photos with. There are 2 levels of The Venue, a true rooftop with a 360 degree panorama overlooking the Cooper River and the churches of the Holy City. Below the rooftop is an open-air deck with a full service bar. The deck is a perfect option if it’s just a little too chilly to enjoy the rooftop.
Visit the Vendue Rooftop for Happy Hour 4-7pm Monday – Friday for drink specials and 1/2 price appetizers. The Vendue is most definitely one of Charleston’s Best Rooftop Bars and one of my favorites as well!
Also, the bathrooms are super nice. So there’s that if you have to pee after one drink like me.
The Watch Rooftop Kitchen and Spirits
The Watch, located on the 7th Floor of the elegant Restoration Hotel, offers a panoramic view of Charleston. Seriously, the most spectacular sights over the harbor with farm-to-table food in a modern, stylish environment. Go during Happy Hour for $6 glasses of Rose and a number of small plates!
Grand Bohemian Hotel
Chic cocktails with opulent decor, the Grand Bohemian Hotel rooftop bar is an absolute delight, and you’ll feel like royalty here.
Try NOT to feel like Alice in Wonderland in this lush rooftop atmosphere. As you can see from my photo above, it was a cloudy, dreary day and the picture doesn’t do it justice. I promise this whimsical rooftop is worth the walk to Wentworth Street in Downtown Charleston. And if you get too comfortable in the giant lounge chairs, you may never leave 😉
Charleston Harbor Fish House
You gotta hop over the Ravenel Bridge to enjoy this view of the Charleston Harbor. Although not technically a “rooftop” this open-air dining experience is one you don’t want to miss!
And there ya have it, Charleston’s Best Rooftop Bars to enjoy a cocktail (or two!).
