Oh my! This little french bistro-meets southern kitchen will charm your socks off.
If you don’t trust me and want to taste for yourself, you must have reservations because The Fat Hen is THAT good. I went on a rainy, cold Sunday thinking I wouldn’t need reservations because most people were eating in the comfort of their warm homes. Even though the weather was gloomy, the place was packed!
If you live or are vacationing in Charleston, South Carolina, the short drive to Johns Island is more than worth it to enjoy the cuisine at Fat Hen. My table had a mix of eats from a classic cheeseburger, to shrimp and grits, to eggs benedict (which was FABULOUS!) – every meal was made to perfection.
P.S. the cheeseburger patty was at least an inch thick. Just the meat itself. Although I went during the wet winter, I will 100% be returning when it’s warm to enjoy the outside bar and atmosphere. The twinkly lights alone make for a magical summer evening.
In the Summer, you can sip on cocktails at “The Coop”, the outdoor hangout spot behind the restaurant. Fat Hen Charleston is quaint and just like the atmostphere indoors – charming and magically Southern.
